The Art Of Becoming: Why I Am Unapologetically Pro-Aging

The Art Of Becoming: Why I Am Unapologetically Pro-Aging

As the years unfold, I find myself becoming increasingly comfortable in my own skin—both literally and figuratively. There is a quiet, settled confidence that sinks into your bones with time. Yet, I look around and realize I seem to be in the minority. I have never quite understood the current cultural frenzy surrounding the relentless, exhaustive pursuit of youth. Why on earth would I want to rewind the clock to 25 — or even 35? I look forward to the coming years and how I will evolve with new discoveries…. how I will continue (hopefully) becoming a better version of me.

The Ultimate Copywriter’s Paradox

As a solo formulator, this creates a rather amusing daily paradox when I sit down to write product descriptions for my skincare line. My formulas are meticulously built to improve the tone, cushion, and surface resilience of mature skin. However, my goal is to help you look and feel incredible right now, at your current age, rather than tricking you into trying to recapture a phantom youth.

Yet, the search engine gods demand the buzzword “anti-aging.” It is the phrase of the decade, the anchor of hashtags, and the term everyone types into a search bar. I despise it. It sends the wrong message. So, consider this my official stance: I am entirely pro-aging.

Anti-aging assumes we can prevent the clock from ticking altogether. Pro-aging views the passage of time as something to look forward to, enjoy, and celebrate.

Here is the philosophy I pour into every bottle.

1. The Beauty of Character (vs. The Clone Effect)

Every laugh line, every silvery strand of hair, and every sun-kissed spot is a physical testament to a life actually lived. These markers do not diminish our beauty; they provide it with texture and depth.

We marvel at a canvas adorned with rich, layered brushstrokes, yet we panic when our faces do the same. I feel a genuine sense of sadness when I observe the current obsession with fillers, Botox, and heavy cosmetic procedures. In a desperate bid to erase time, we are erasing our uniqueness. Over the last decade I have noticed an alarming phenomenon: everyone is starting to look exactly the same.

Let's step off the conveyor belt. Your face should be a masterpiece of your individual history, not a replica of a clinical waiting room brochure.

2. Earned Wisdom (Because Age Alone Doesn't Cut It)

We have all heard the cliché that age brings wisdom. I beg to differ. Time simply passes; wisdom requires an active participant.

As the old saying goes, many young fools simply grow up to be old fools. Wisdom is not a default setting that automatically activates on your fiftieth birthday. It is earned through deep curiosity, sharp observation, and the uncomfortable willingness to be vulnerable.
Furrowed brows reflect moments of intense introspection; laugh lines are the represent moments of joy. I relish these creases. They are proof that we have been engaging with life, not just watching it pass by from a safe distance.

3. The Exhausting Myth of Perfection

We live in a society obsessed with flawless skin and airbrushed illusions. Social media has become a stage where people perform their "perfect" lives to the applause of virtual validation.

We are exposed to an endless stream of perfect teeth, perfect hair, and perfectly smooth faces—all neatly masking deeply complex inner realities. Frankly, I do not understand why perfection is pursued so fiercely. It is incredibly boring. The true essence of who we are lies directly in our quirks, our asymmetric smiles, and our beautifully imperfect edges.

4. Reclaiming a Well-Worn Word

"Authenticity" has become a terribly worn-out path, trampled by countless self-help books and motivational Instagram feeds. The phrase "my authentic self" has lost a bit of its magic from sheer overuse (and quite frankly I roll my eyes when I hear it).

Yet, despite my inner skeptic, I keep returning to it because it is the only word that truly fits the architecture of my brand. Authenticity is not about presenting a perfectly curated, filtered version of yourself to the world. It is about having the absolute courage to show up entirely unfiltered—both physically and metaphorically.

Less is More: The Lustra Collection

I choose to age with grace, kindness, and a heavy dose of humor. The passing years have shaped me through high notes of triumph and low notes of loss, and I wouldn't trade that texture for the smoothest 30-year-old complexion in the world.

This exact philosophy is why I create waterless, ultra-concentrated formulas. I pack each bottle with high percentages of functioning actives so you can use fewer products while achieving beautiful, radiant skin. No masks, no illusions—just pure, high-performance nourishment for the art of becoming.
